You

You warrant that you are:

  • The legal owner of the Equipment, Accessories and/ or household ink-jet cartridges, or have permission from the legal owner(s) to send in and sell them. CMR Ltd. may, at its sole discretion, ask you for appropriate documents to evidence ownership;
  • A resident in Great Britain or Northern Ireland with a valid UK mainland address; and
  • At least 18 years old.

 

Device Criteria

Working Mobile Phones

Each mobile phone sold must match the make and model quoted on the order and meet the following criteria:

  • You must be able to turn the device on and off.
  • The device must be fully functional.
  • Device must be complete with battery and back cover.
  • The bodywork must have no cracks, missing plastics, screws or metal nor be detached from the main body of the device in any way.
  • Device must have no missing buttons.
  • LCD must function and power up correctly, fully displaying the operating system.
  • LCD must have no lines, missing pixels, screen burn or pressure damage.
  • LCD screen must not be protruding from casing.
  • The display lens must be intact with no cracks.
  • Touch screens must be fully functional.
  • There must be no signs of liquid damage.
  • The stylus must be included if originally sold with the device.
  • Slider mechanisms must function correctly.
  • Device must have no fake or non-original components.
  • Excessive dents, chips, scratches or wear and tear may lead to a revised offer.

Damaged/Faulty Mobile Phones

If your mobile does not adhere to the working criteria it will be classified as Damaged/Faulty. Damaged/Faulty mobiles must meet the following criteria:

  • Device must not be crushed.
  • Device must not be broken in half or bent in any way.
  • Device must not be liquid damaged.
  • No integral components such as the camera, LCD or display lens should be missing.
  • No integral parts should be detached from the main body of the phone in any way or be missing.
  • No integral components should be missing or detached from the main body of the device.

Working Apple iPhones/iPads

Each Apple iPhone or iPad sold must match the make and model quoted on the order and meet the following criteria:

  • You must be able to turn the device on and off.
  • All standard functionality and software must be fully functional.
  • Devices with personalised engravings will be subject to a reduced price offer
  • Device must be complete with SIM tray and all buttons.
  • All buttons must function correctly.
  • The bodywork must have no cracks, missing plastics, screws or metal nor be detached from the main body of the device in any way.
  • LCD must function and power up correctly, fully displaying the operating system.
  • LCD must have no lines, missing pixels, screen burn or pressure damage.
  • LCD screen must not be protruding from casing.
  • LCD screen must have no Halo effect.
  • The touch screen must be fully functional.
  • There must be no signs of liquid damage.
  • Device must have no fake or non original components.
  • Excessive dents, chips, scratches or wear and tear may lead to a revised offer.

Damaged/Faulty Apple iPhones

If your Apple iPhone does not adhere to the working conditions it will be classified as Damaged/Faulty. Damaged/Faulty Apple iPhones should meet the following conditions:

  • It must be on a UK network
  • It must not be crushed.
  • It must not be broken in half or bent in any way.
  • There must not be liquid damage.
  • No integral parts such as buttons, camera, LCD etc should be missing.
  • No integral parts should be detached from the main body of the phone in any way or be missing.

iCloud Locked Apple Devices

If you are using Apple iCloud on your Apple device you must remove the device from your iCloud account before sending it to us.

If the device meets the working criteria, but is iCloud Locked the Working iCloud Locked price will be paid. If the device is Damaged/Faulty, but is iCloud Locked the Non-Working iCloud Locked price will be paid. Please note that we pay considerably less for any iCloud Locked device so please ensure that your Apple device is removed from iCloud.

New Devices

New devices must match the make and model quoted on the order and meet the following criteria:

  • Must be brand new, unused in sealed original box.
  • Any security seal must not be broken.
  • Must be in original manufacturer's box with all accessories.
  • Must NOT be reported as barred / Blacklisted / Stolen.
  • We reserve the right to return any device we deem not to be New

Please be aware that we carry out a carrier check to determine the network of new devices. This can delay processing times by around 1-2 working days.

Networks

For certain devices we require you to specify which network they are on as there are differences in price. If after testing the device is found to be locked to a different network we will change the price accordingly in the form of a revised offer.

Working Gadgets

Gadgets include: Apple Watch, Apple iPod, Sony PSP, Amazon Kindle Gadget sold must match the make and model quoted on the order and meet the following criteria:

  • You must be able to turn the device on and off.
  • Device must retain a charge.
  • Device must be complete with battery and back cover.
  • Device must have no missing or broken parts.
  • The bodywork must have no cracks, missing plastics, screws or metal nor be detached from the main body of the device in any way.
  • LCD must function and power up correctly, fully displaying the operating system.
  • LCD must have no lines, missing pixels, screen burn or pressure damage.
  • LCD screen must not be protruding from casing.
  • The display lens must be intact with no cracks.
  • Touch screens must be fully functional.
  • There must be no liquid damage.
  • All mechanisms must function correctly.
  • All standard functionality and software must be in working order.
  • Dents, chips or excessive wear and tear may lead to a reduction in the original price offered.

Damaged or Faulty Gadgets

If your gadget does not adhere to the working conditions it will be classified as Damaged/Faulty. Damaged/Faulty Gadgets must meet the following criteria:

  • Device must not be crushed.
  • Device must not be broken in half or bent in any way.
  • Device must not be liquid damaged.
  • No integral components such as the camera, LCD or display lens should be missing.
  • No integral components should be missing or detached from the main body of the device.

Revised Offers

If a device fails to meet the device criteria selected on your order and outlined in these terms and conditions we will change your order accordingly to the correct condition. This will sometimes only be a partial reduction in price or ‘revised offer’ depending on the diagnosis of the device(s) by our operatives. You will receive an email informing you of the revised offer price with a reason. If you are not happy with a revised offer or downgrade we are happy to discuss the order and we will return the device to you at our own cost via Royal Mail Special Delivery.

Your Equipment

To receive the full value of your Equipment (as quoted on this website), it must satisfy the following conditions:

Working

  • Fully functional, but can show signs of wear & tear through normal use
  • Have a working, undamaged screen (no cracks or blemishes)
  • Include its battery and stylus (if applicable)
  • Must not be water-damaged
  • Lens must be present (if applicable)

Not Working or functional problems

Your device:

  • Has serious physical defects, or functional issues after power on
  • and/or is incomplete, with no battery or styles
  • Please note the device must not be water-damaged, crushed or have a damaged screen
  • Please note that with Smart phones, it must be possible to access the IMEI number recorded electronically within the device, so to verify this with CheckMEND

Further mandatory conditions:

  • If it is a mobile phone, it must not be subject to a current contract with a mobile phone operator;
  • If it is a mobile phone, it must not be pin protected;
  • It must be a make and model that appears on this website;
  • It must not be blocked, or registered as lost or stolen ; and
  • It must be of UK or European specification.

Unless you are donating your Equipment to charity, all Equipment to be recycled by CMR Ltd. must be accompanied by a unique reference code and other identifying customer information (if requested by CMR Ltd.), and must be posted within 7 days of the date of the website entry.
Each Equipment received at CMR Ltd.is tested and screened against the above conditions before customer payment is processed and made within the time frame set out under the "Payments" section of these terms and conditions.
Equipment that does not meet all the conditions above can be posted in to CMR Ltd.. However, depending on their condition, you may not receive any payment for the Equipment , or you may receive a percentage of the full value of a non-damaged Equipment (so the customer payment offered will be less than that of an Equipment that meets all of the conditions above).

All devices not selected for donation to charity will be IMEI checked via CheckMEND on receipt; if a device fails CheckMEND it will be quarantined for 28 days, after 28 days, if the device is still a CheckMEND fail, CMR Ltd. will dispose of it. This is in compliance of the Home Office Code of Practice.

Once the Equipment has been received and tested, we will contact you via email with the payment value. If the Equipment does not meet all of the above conditions, but is worth a percentage of the full value of undamaged Equipment, we will automatically adjust the payment amount accordingly, notify you of the change via email and process your adjusted payment amount. If emailed with a variance of the registered price, you must respond if not acceptable within 7 days, else we’ll conclude purchase based on the revised offer made.
Please note that once you have sent in or dropped off your Equipment or Accessory, they cannot be returned.

Significantly damaged Equipment

Equipment that is significantly damaged, or does not satisfy all of the conditions as listed in 'Your Equipment', or falls within the 'Prohibited makes and models' set out below, may be posted in to CMR Ltd. for recycling but no payment will be made for it.

 

Wrong make and model

CMR Ltd. shall confirm the Equipment make and model upon receipt of the Equipment. The price paid to you by CMR Ltd.may change if the Equipment make and model received by CMR Ltd. is different to the Equipment make and model entered into the website.
We will automatically adjust the payment amount accordingly, notify you of the change via email and process your adjusted payment amount on the corrected model. If emailed with a variance of the registered price, you must respond if not acceptable within 7 days, else we’ll conclude purchase based on the revised offer made.
Please note that once you have sent in or dropped off your Equipments, Accessories and/ or household ink-jet cartridges, they cannot be returned.

 

Prohibited makes and models

CMR Ltd. will only make payments for makes and models of Equipment that are listed on the Simply Drop website. For the avoidance of doubt, the following makes and models will not qualify for payment:

  • Digital cameras or MP3 players that have the appearance of toys or carry branding of toy manufacturers or characters, eg. Animated brand cameras;
  • Digital cameras or MP3 players classed as stores' own brand cameras, eg. Tesco's own brand "Technika" cameras;
  • MP3 players classed as USB memory stick MP3 players, also referred to as "lipstick", "flash drive" or "finger size" MP3 players;
  • Mobile phones not registered in the UK or Europe;
  • Cordless phones; and
  • Devices that are significantly damaged beyond standard wear and tear (for example, smashed device, broken screen), or incomplete (for example, missing cover, no battery).

Please be sure to check that your Equipment is listed on the Simply Drop website before sending, as CMR Ltd. is unable to return any Equipments, Accessories, or household ink-jet cartridges or any other items under any circumstances.

 

Damaged and non-functioning Equipment

CMR Ltd. shall confirm the Equipment condition and functioning state (that is, whether it is / is not in working condition) upon receipt of the Equipment. The price paid to the customer may change if the Equipment received is in a functioning state that does not meet all the conditions set out above .

We will automatically adjust the payment amount accordingly, notify you of the change via email and process your adjusted payment amount.

Damaged Equipment can be traded in as normal. However, depending on their condition, you may not receive any payment for the Equipments, or you may receive a percentage of the full value of a non-damaged Equipment (so the customer payment offered will be less than that of a working Equipment). Once the Equipment has been received and tested, we will contact you via email with the new payment value.

We will automatically adjust the payment amount accordingly, notify you of the change via email and process your adjusted payment amount.

If the Equipment is significantly damage, no payment will be made for it.

 

Personal information

We recommend that you remove all SIM cards and memory cards before posting your Equipment to CMR Ltd. Please be aware that it is in your interest to do this as SIM and memory cards contain personal details and private information, and if you do not remove them properly, we are not responsbile for any unauthorised use of your network airtime and/or your personal data.

In addition, customers are advised to remove all other personal data that may be otherwise stored on the Equipment; for example personal details, SMS/text messages, photos, videos, images, games, music or other data. CMR Ltd. have no responsibility if you do not remove SIM cards, memory cards and other data as outlined above.

Any SIM cards, memory cards and personal data posted with Equipment or Accessories to CMR Ltd. will be destroyed during the handling process and therefore cannot be returned. Additionally, it will not be possible for you to otherwise retrieve any data, other content on the Equipment, SIM card or memory card once sent to CMR Ltd., as all data is removed in the handling process.

If the Equipment or Accessory contains any personal data, you consent to the level of security, protection, confidentiality and removal of such data, which CMR Ltd. will apply in the handling process for the Equipment or Accessory.

You confirm that the Equipment, when sent, will not contain any personal data of any other person, and will fully indemnify CMR Ltd., their agents, employees and subcontractors for any and all claims, loss, damages or charges that may arise from any SIM card, memory card received or any personal data left on the Equipment or Accessories.

Please notice that Accessories such as headphones, boxes, charger etc. is not being returned. 

 

Payments

In respect of an Equipment that has been sent to CMR Ltd., a payment will be sent to the customer once the Equipment has been received, tested and validated. Payments will be made to the same name, address and email address entered / provided on the website.
Any Equipment received without the unique reference code provided to the customer, that cannot therefore be identified back to the customer, CMR Ltd. will treat as a charity donation. Please see the 'Equipment donated to charities' section below for more detail.
Where possible we will endeavour to make all relevant payments within the following number of working days from the day your Equipment(s) have been tested and confirmed to meet our terms and conditions.

  • PayPal payments will be made 7 working days of receipt of the Equipment by CMR Ltd..
  • Bank transfer
  • Postal Order payments will be made 7 working days of receipt of the Equipment by CMR Ltd.. Postal Order payments will be made via 2nd class CMR Ltd. post.

At busy times we cannot guarantee payment within the periods set out above, and we will endeavour to make all relevant payments within 14 days of receipt of the Equipment by CMR Ltd..
The price paid to you by CMR Ltd. may change if the Equipment make and model received by CMR Ltd. is different to the Equipment make and model entered into the website, or if the Equipment received is in a functioning state that does not meet all the conditions set out above. We will automatically adjust the payment amount accordingly, notify you of the change via email and process your adjusted payment amount. If emailed with a variance of the registered price, you must respond if not acceptable within 7 days, else we’ll conclude purchase based on the revised offer made.
The price quoted is valid for 14 days from the date of the website entry. We will guarantee the value quoted on the date of website entry of the Equipment for 14 days after that date, unless it fails to meet the conditions as stated under the 'Your Equipment' section above. Subject to the foregoing, CMR Ltd. reserves the right to withdraw any Equipment from this website without notice.
Equipment values stated on the website are subject to change at any time without notice.
All payments are non-transferable.
CMR Ltd. will become the owner of each item of Equipment when you have been paid for the Equipment, or when CMR Ltd. contacts you to acknowledge receipt of your Equipment together with a change in the purchase price (if it is determined by CMR Ltd. that a percentage of the full value of the Equipment is due to you after the Equipment has been tested and validated). CMR Ltd. will become the owner of each Accessory and household ink-jet cartridge when you have posted the Accessory or cartridge to CMR Ltd..
CMR Ltd. reserves the right to refuse acceptance of any Equipment, Accessories or household ink-jet cartridges.
CMR Ltd. reserves the right to recover payment from you if it considers that you have not complied with the requirements listed above or any advertised conditions of service, or if Equipment posted by you is later identified as being blocked, or registered or reported as lost or stolen.

Postal damage and loss

We strongly recommend that you properly and safely pack your mobile phones and other devices in the prepaid envelope before sending them in to CMR Ltd., to minimise the risk of damage.

The prepaid envelope does not guarantee that the device(s) will be received in the same condition as when it was sent. We suggest that all device(s) are sent to us by Royal Mail "Special Delivery" (or equivalent).

CMR Ltd. does not take any responsibility for the loss or damage to devices before receipt at our warehouse where devices are not sent via "Special Delivery" (or equivalent). Device(s) sent via "Special Delivery" (or equivalent) are subject to the relevant terms that apply at the time of the devices being posted, including terms relating to compensation.

 

Returns

Once you have sent in or dropped off your Equipments, Accessories or household inkjet catridges, they cannot be returned by CMR Ltd..

If a device fails Checkmend this can not be returned - this happens if the device is listed as for example, lost, stolen, fake, etc. 

 

Equipment donated to charities

Where you have posted in your Equipment to CMR Ltd. and have selected a charity to receive payment (instead of receiving the payment yourself), then that charity will receive the full value of each qualifying Equipment as set out on this website once CMR Ltd. has determined the condition of the Equipment. The value of payment for the Equipment paid to the charity of your choice will be dependent on the condition of the Equipment.

Where you have posted in your Equipment without a unique reference number,CMR Ltd. will donate an amount of £5 for each qualifying Equipment to CMR Ltd.'s charity partner, Barnado's.

For an Equipment to qualify it must have a value of at least £5 on the website, and must satisfy all the conditions set out under 'Your Equipment'.

 

Other

  • Dealers and stockists are excluded from this offer. Registered charities are NOT excluded from this offer.
  • All Equipments, Accessories and household inkjet cartridges sent in to CMR Ltd. must be done with the permission of their legal owner(s). CMR Ltd. may, at its sole discretion, ask you for appropriate documents to evidence ownership.
  • Equipments that are suspected or reported stolen may be referred to the appropriate authorities for further investigation, along with the name and contact details of the Customer. No customer payment will be made if the Equipment IMEI (serial number) is inaccessible, or appears on any of the Stolen/Blocked Asset registers.
  • CMR Ltd. reserves the right to refuse payment for any Equipment(s).
